Hotspot and data budgets
Your busiest laptop day deserves its own check.
Total data, daily fair use and hotspot limits answer different questions. Plan each one before choosing an unlimited label.
Write down five amounts
- Total phone and hotspot data for the whole trip.
- Largest combined phone-and-hotspot day.
- How many days you will tether.
- Total hotspot data, already included in the trip total.
- Largest hotspot day, already included in that day’s combined use.
Use previous device records where available. Video-call, map or streaming consumption depends on settings and circumstances; this guide supplies no measured per-hour rate.

Total trip budget
3 GBLargest hotspot day
The worked example has 12 GB total, a 4 GB largest combined day and hotspot on two days: 4 GB hotspot in total, with a 3 GB peak. These are illustrative requirements, not a tested offer or consumption prediction.
The hotspot amount is already part of the 12 GB. Adding it again would produce an incorrect 16 GB requirement. Dividing 12 GB by 14 days also hides the 3 GB laptop day; an average cannot certify a daily cap.
Four different hotspot questions
Airalo fixed: is sharing allowed on this exact package?
The 20 GB / 15-day record does not establish exact-package tethering and fair-use terms. General device-and-network tethering help cannot fill that package-specific gap.
Airalo unlimited: what shares the daily threshold?
The exact unlimited offer states 5 GB/day before reduction to 1 Mbps. General unlimited guidance permits tethering without a separate cap; tethering shares the data fair-use limit. Align the 24-hour reset window with your busiest day.
Saily unlimited: what counts as excessive tethering?
The documented offer has 5 GB per 24 hours without a speed limit, then up to 1 Mbps. No separate numeric hotspot cap was established. Its excessive-tethering restriction remains undefined numerically, so an unlimited label does not establish an unrestricted laptop session.
Holafly: does your hotspot day exceed 1 GB?
The documented Europe hotspot allowance is 1 GB/day. A 3 GB hotspot day exceeds that stated amount. The exact reset anchor remains unknown, so confirm the actual time window as well as the buyer eligibility terms.

Make the limit part of your plan
Reduce the laptop requirement only if your actual plan changes. If hotel Wi-Fi is your alternative, keep a realistic connection fallback and check the login procedure. Do not assume hotel access proves speed or reliability.
