How we work
Show the source. Keep the limits visible.
A useful travel guide should tell you what was documented, what was tested and what is still unknown. Here is how those distinctions shape these pages.
Documentation-based · practical tests pendingDocumentation tells us the stated rules
01 · Documented
A source for the rule.
We use official device and provider sources for the statements they support. We record the source URL and check date beside the relevant guide. A listed country, allowance or advertised feature is a provider claim.
A web page does not establish the signal, speed or reliability you will experience in a particular street, hotel or country. If a page is inaccessible, incomplete or inconsistent, the missing detail stays visible.
Our interpretation stays separate
02 · Assessment
Requirements before price.
Our route worksheet checks countries, travel dates, total data, daily peaks, hotspot use and device requirements. Known failures remain failures even when other fields are unknown. An unknown field never becomes zero or an automatic pass.
The label “Meets documented requirements” is reserved for complete matching evidence. It does not mean measured performance. Current candidate records retain the missing facts and do not receive a purchase recommendation.
A practical claim needs a matching test
03 · Pending
Record the actual outcome.
No matching destination, device-and-plan or controlled hotel-network test has been completed for these guides. We do not claim measured speed, successful installation, activation or reconnect behaviour.
A practical report must identify the device, software, exact product, location, time, network, settings and test steps. The observed result must be recorded separately from the expected result. One setup cannot establish all other setups.
Prices and recommendations have a boundary
We compare the same route and requirements before considering cost. The exact package, currency, period, fees, tax treatment and renewal rules matter. A displayed storefront amount is not a verified checkout total.
If a longer package is needed, its full price belongs in the comparison. We do not invent discounts, review scores, savings or customer outcomes. Existing roaming or VPN access may already meet the need.
Commercial relationships must be clear
The merchant and support links in these guides are ordinary links to official sources. This version contains no affiliate tracking links. No provider has been ranked on commission.
If a paid or affiliate relationship is introduced, the relevant guide must disclose it beside the recommendation before the commercial action. The facts and testing limits remain the same.

A narrow starting scope
Awayrelay focuses on three travel tasks: a 14-day UK, France and Switzerland route, iPhone preparation, and hotel Wi-Fi with VPN limits. This is not a global destination catalogue or a general VPN ranking.
