Activation and validity

Installing an eSIM is not one universal start rule.

Record the event that starts your exact package, the latest activation date and the expiry clock. Then decide when to install.

Keep four timing answers together

  1. Installation: when the provider tells you to add the profile.
  2. Start event: what actually begins the paid validity.
  3. Deadline: when an unused package must start or starts automatically.
  4. Expiry: how hours, days and timezone apply to your arrival and departure.

A 14-day inclusive calendar itinerary does not automatically fit 14 rolling 24-hour periods. Flight times and the actual activation event can change the final hours of coverage.

The documented clocks are different

Airalo: first use

The inspected Eurolink records state that validity begins on first use. A catalogue activation deadline of 365 days was observed for the fixed package; recheck the exact purchase terms. Exact expiry clocks remain unestablished. Unlimited fair-use guidance uses 24-hour periods from activation; do not substitute that daily rule for the package expiry rule.

Saily: arrival, enabled eSIM and roaming

The recorded guidance starts service on arrival in an included country with the eSIM and roaming enabled. An unused plan starts automatically after 180 days. Exact expiry and daily reset anchor still need confirmation. Record both the arrival event and the automatic-start deadline.

Holafly: first supported-network connection

The documented 14-day package uses 14 periods of 24 hours from its first connection to a supported network. The activation deadline and expiry timezone are unconfirmed. A nominal 14-day trip still needs its exact connection and departure times compared.

Before installing, save the exact instructions

Keep the plan name, public instruction URL, stated start event, deadline and expiry in your worksheet. Check the exact phone variant, software and carrier lock before relying on eSIM support. Do not put QR codes, activation codes or account credentials into a planning worksheet.

If a rule is unclear, ask the provider before installing. This guide records documentation; it does not establish that your phone has installed or activated successfully.
